Wars of Empire Review

Directions: Under each complete the phrase, answer the question, fill in the blank, or define the definition.

Why did the British and French fight over the colonies? They both wanted American territory.

When go to war over the colonies, what group do the French and the British try to get on their side and Why? They wanted to woo the Indians by giving the Indians gifts, like weapons and then steal their land.

Describe the events in the Ohio River Valley that led to the outbreak of war? To keep the British out, the French built Fort Duquesne and this upset the British even more, they sent George Washington to evict them and he defeated the French.

How do British turn the tide of war?
The British started to set up blockades.

Describe Pontiacs Rebellion: Many of the Indians groups rebelled and captured several British forts.

Describe the aftermath of the French Indian War: After investing blood and money many of the British wanted greater power and control over the colonies. They also wanted the colonist to pay war debt and cost of guarding territories.
