Age of Jackson Review
Directions: Under each complete the phrase, answer the question, fill in the blank, or define the definition.
Describe Jackson’s push and winning of the presidency: Andrew Jackson was a commoner and he was like everyone else, he wasn’t rich and he got well-known by the military. He was normal and everyone was happy to have someone understand the people. Jackson defeated John Quincy Adams in the elections for president with his party.
Describe the Indian Removal Act: In 1830 Congress passed the Indian Removal Act which was to peacefully get the Indians to trade their land with the South.
Describe the Bank Crisis: Congress passed a charter for a second bank of the US in 1816 but Jackson and his supporters did not like it because they saw it as a corruption. They thought it was an interest for the rich and Congress tired to vote for a renew charter but Jackson vetoed it.
Describe the reaction to Jackson’s policies: Jackson created a political party called Whigs which challenged the Democratic side. Andrew Jackson was reelected during a landslide and it caused the federal bank to weaken then it made the economy weak.
Bell Ringer: What was unusual about Andrew Jackson Inauguration? Why mite Jackson have been called the peoples president? Jackson was a commoner and he was normal like everyone else. He truly understood the people which was helpful to the people and they were happy to have a president who could understand their own needs.
