Describe advances in road construction: To change the methods of manufacturing and transportation they made the effort to improve roads in some states and starting off with the turnpikes which were tolled

Describe advances in water transportation: Steam boats were made to transport on water to make things go faster and powering them by paddles with steam

Why is the Eerie Canal important? The Eerie canal connected the Hudson River with Lake Eerie to pass goods through NYC which made it industrial.

Describe advances in railroads: It began in the US in 1820, the railroads cost less to build than ships and it moved way faster than the ships plus it could carry more weight.

Describe advances in industry including Samuel Slater: He built the first water powered textile mill from memory.

Describe the inventions of Sam Morse and Eli Whitney: Eli Whitney invented the Cotton Gin which would make it easier to pick out the seeds of cotton instead of doing it by hand. Then Sam Morse created the electric telegraph allowing others to communicate over distance.

Why did the Cotton Gin expand slavery? It expanded it because the slaves still need to pick the cotton for the machine.

Bell Ringer: How long does the young women work in the Lowell Mill each day? What effect do you think work would have on a young person each day?
The women worked from 7 to 7:30 each day at the Mill. For some it would have been fun because the women are actually give and task but it would tire them very much. Doing hard labor is very tough and then doing the same thing everyday could bore someone to death.

Exit Ticket: In today’s lesson I learned that during the Revolution, roads were improved to transport goods. Then, they started building steam boats for goods to be transported faster. After that steam boats and the roads improved, they began to build railroads for trains, which seem to be a little more faster and they could carry more weight.
